The Original Rochester Spooky Tour - Adults-Only (Ninth Season)

This is where it all began...

Now entering its ninth season, The Original Rochester Spooky Tour returns - darker, sharper, and more unsettling than ever before.

This is not a novelty ghost tour.  There are no jump scares.  No actors.  No theatrics.

This year's Original Rochester Spooky Tour is focused on the REALLY nasty things REAL people have done to REAL people - often legally!

A darker turn for 2026...

Yes, there are ghost stories — and the one we start the tour with was unknown in Rochester until earlier this year! And it's one which will challenge your preconceptions about how people experience ... ghosts.

But then we focus on something far more disturbing: The macabre.  The brutal.  The REALITY. And the often uncomfortable truth of what human beings have done to one another - in the name of justice, belief, and control.

Executions. Punishments. Lives ruined or ended — sometimes publicly, sometimes quietly.

These are not invented tales. They are part of the fabric of this city.

What to expect
  • A guided evening walk around the historic Cathedral Precinct
  • Stops at key locations, where each story is told where it happened
  • A relaxed walking pace, with time to set the scene properly
  • A storytelling style grounded in real events, not performance or gimmick
Strictly for adults (18+) due to the nature of the material.

Thinking of trying a guided walk — but not quite sure what it’s like?

If you’ve never been on one before, here’s the honest answer:  A guided walk isn’t a show.  It’s not a bus tour.  And it’s definitely not something you sit down for.

It’s a relaxed walk through a place — stopping at key locations while the stories are told where they actually happened.

That does mean:
  • a bit of standing at each stop
  • a steady walking pace between locations
  • and time taken to set the scene properly so the story makes sense
For many people, that’s exactly what makes it work:  You’re not being rushed past things…  you’re given just enough time to take it in - and let the story land.

It’s not for everyone - and that’s absolutely fine.

But if you enjoy:
  • real places
  • well-told stories
  • and seeing a town in a completely different way
…then chances are, you’ll get a lot out of it.

And one little thing before you book…
When you book your tour, you'll have the option to join our mailing list for news of forthcoming tours and special events.

There's also a little something waiting in your welcome email as our way of saying thank you for joining us. Something you might find rather useful!

And just to reassure you — these emails come from Rochester History Guided Tours only. We don't sell or share your details with other businesses for their marketing.

It's entirely your choice, of course. But when you reach the page where you enter your personal details, look out for the little box inviting you to receive our emails. You might be glad you ticked it!
