A Christmas Evening with Mr Dickens

Not simply a Dickens performance.
A REAL Dickens Christmas Evening.

Three days before Christmas, join us in Rochester for a very special evening with Ollie Dickens — actor, storyteller and great-great-great-grandson of Charles Dickens.

For one magical evening, Ollie takes us inside the Christmas world of his famous ancestor: sharing stories of Christmas in the Dickens family - including some which have never appeared in print - and exploring the extraordinary relationship between Charles Dickens and the Christmas we celebrate today.

Then, for the centrepiece of the evening, Ollie becomes his famous ancestor to perform the Christmas story Dickens gave to Rochester in 1854:

THE SEVEN POOR TRAVELLERS

There is, of course, a famous story in Rochester about how The Seven Poor Travellers came to be written.

We may have one or two things to say about that as well - be prepared for some surprises!

We'll welcome you with a glass of Prosecco or warming mulled wine and a mince pie, and every guest will receive a specially produced commemorative edition of The Seven Poor Travellers to take home.

This... is where Christmas begins...
