Harbour Oysters 'Oyster Scrub', Littlehampton - 1330-1530

Littlehampton Harbour Board Workshops, Littlehampton, BN17 5DD
Wednesday 25th November 2026 1:30PM
Did you know... A single oyster filters over 150 litres of water each day, removing pollutants cleaning the environment and making it more habitable to other marine life!?

Help Harbour Oysters (www.harbouroysters.com) get 5,000 native oysters ready to go into Littlehampon Harbour, where they will help improve water quality and biodiversity; a project in partnership with Sussex Bay (www.sussexbay.org.uk) and Littlehampton Harbour (littlehampton.org.uk).

The 'scrub' consists of two hours of cleaning individual oysters to ensure they are ready for their new home. Come and learn more about the power of the native oyster - once abundant in UK waters, but fished to near extinction - and help us restore their populations, to clean our habour waters, and rebuild resilient marine ecosystems. No pre-existing knowledge, experience or equipment needed.

These events offer hands-on and fun ways to interact with our shelled marine superheroes, meet the teams and other people who share an appreciation for our coastal environments

Children over the age of 8 welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult.
