Tom Scott Duo Presents: Hey, Old Friends – A Sondheim Evening

The Zullo Gallery is kicking off its 2026 First Thursday season with this special show...

On Thursday, Feb. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the gallery, trumpeter Tom Duprey and guitarist Scott Sandvik will perform a selection of pieces by the legendary Stephen Sondheim.

Duprey and Sandvik share a passion for the music of Sondheim, an award-winning composer and lyricist renowned for his 20th-century musical theater scores. Their upcoming performance is enriched by Duprey’s years of experience playing in the orchestra pit for many musicals. For Sandvik, his classical solo guitar technique and knack as an arranger for adapting Sondheim piano accompaniments to guitar, preserves essential elements of Sondheim's writing.

Long-time friends from their New England Conservatory days and both music educators today, Duprey and Sandvik will provide context and background to help the audience understand the Sondheim pieces as they bring them to life in an engaging, open workshop format.

With pre-registration through this site, the Zullo will reserve seats/tables for parties of 2 or more, otherwise seats will be first-come, first-served. And although online ticket sales will stop at 6:30 p.m., if space allows, additional attendees will be welcome at the door.

Beer & wine will be available for purchase.

This event is funded by a grant from Medfield Cultural Council, a local agency supported by Mass Cultural Council, a state agency.
