The Role of the NIHR Health Determinants Research Collaboration

How can local authorities make better use of research to improve population health and reduce inequalities?

This seminar will explore the role of Health Determinants Research Collaborations (HDRCs) in building research capacity and creating a stronger culture of evidence-informed decision making within local government.

Attendees will gain an overview of what HDRCs are and how they support councils to become research-active organisations. The session will showcase practical examples of how local authorities can embed research into policy and practice taken from HDRC Sandwell, develop partnerships with academic institutions, and generate evidence that addresses local priorities.

Whether you are new to HDRCs or already involved in research activity, the seminar will provide insights into the opportunities, challenges, and real-world impact of strengthening research within local government.
