Miss Austen’s Christmas Jumper
St Paul's Church Winchester, Winchester, SO22 5AB
Thursday 10th December 2026 7:30PM
Miss Austen’s Christmas Jumper brings together music, theatre and a little Regency mischief for a Christmas celebration unlike any other.
What would Jane Austen make of Christmas in the 21st century? The Christmas jumpers, the festive frivolity, and the rather different music filling the streets of Winchester?
This December, Winchester City Festival Choir invites audiences to find out in Miss Austen’s Christmas Jumper, a delightfully unconventional Christmas concert combining beautiful choral music, festive favourites and a playful theatrical twist.
The story begins when Jane Austen finds herself transported to present-day Winchester. As she explores the city, she encounters a Christmas world quite unlike the one she remembers, with a soundtrack ranging from the sacred and sublime to the decidedly modern, including the cheeky festive classic Santa Baby.
Along the way, audiences can expect plenty of familiar carols, glorious choral singing and a generous helping of Christmas spirit.
Written by Keiran O’Flaherty, the concert features actress Daisy Norwood as Jane Austen, bringing the celebrated novelist to life as she navigates the surprises and peculiarities of a modern Winchester Christmas.
