Dick Turpin the Panto

The New Fellowship Hall, Hertfordshire, SG4 8HX
Friday 4th December 2026 - Saturday 5th December 2026
Medieval England, and Dick Turpin and his trusty equine companion, Bess, arrive in the rural countryside of the Yorkshire Dales (which coincidentally look an awful lot like Whitwell in North Hertfordshire. There they meet an unlikely ensemble of characters - some of whom really want to help them, some of whom really, really don't.

Aided by the very masculine-looking and love-starved teashop owner Betty Biscuits and her happy, but sadly intellect-free, son Duncan Biscuits, Dick sets about clearing his name - a task made that much harder by the scheming, grasping local tea baron Earl Grey (who wants to get his hands on Betty's biscuits ... and much, much more) and the celebrated detective Agatha Christea (who has only an incidental relationship with the truth and morality).

Featuring an array of colourful characters, some reimagined classic panto gags, and many, many jokes about our hero's name, this UK premiere performance of Alex Jackson's specially-commissioned and hilarious script is sure to get everyone's Christmases off to the best possible start!

The Whitwell Players' annual festive show is always a sell-out - so book early to be sure of your seat and a riotous start to the festive season!
