Heritage Network Visit - Friends of Waterton's Wall

Waterton Park Hotel, Wakefield, WF2 6PW
Tuesday 19th May 2026
Waterton’s Wall in Walton surrounds the world’s first nature reserve, created by naturalist Charles Waterton in Wakefield. This Grade II listed structure is deteriorating due to age and weathering. The charity Friends of Waterton’s Wall aims to protect a section of the Wall and create a visitor destination to secure its legacy.

Join the Friends of Waterton's Wall for a special walk along the wall for Wakefield District Heritage Network members. Please gather by the bridge at Waterton Park Hotel (postcode WF2 6PW).  Please dress appropriately for outdoor weather conditions.

Part of the Our Heritage Our Stories project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
