Currock Community Centre, Carlisle, CA2 4BS
Saturday 25th April 2026 - Sunday 26th April 2026
Sir Terry Pratchett’s Johnny and the Bomb is a thrilling, funny and thought-provoking adventure through time. When Johnny Maxwell and his friends are unexpectedly transported back to the Second World War, they find themselves standing on their own street during a bombing raid intended for a nearby industrial site.
Faced with the devastation unfolding around them, the friends are forced to ask a huge question: can — and should — they change history to save lives? And what might happen to the present if they do?
Adapted into a lively musical by Matthew Holmes, this junior production blends big ideas with warmth, humour and heart. Holmes’ script captures Terry Pratchett’s unmistakable wit, while the music moves effortlessly from contemporary pop to the rich, swinging sounds of 1940s Big Band. Along the way, audiences will meet a host of memorable and likeable characters in a story that balances serious themes with plenty of laughs.
This junior production of Johnny and the Bomb will be staged at Currock Community Centre using the ACT Pop-Up Theatre, proudly provided by ACT Arts.
