Hazel Hudson Wedmore History Talk - 19 pubs of Wedmore (over the years)

Following last year’s sold-out local history talk, Phil Butterworth returns with another captivating Hazel Hudson lecture - this time celebrating the rich and remarkable pub heritage of Wedmore.

We’re blessed as a village with a wonderful variety of welcoming hostelries — but did you know there were once 19 pubs in the parish?

Join Phil as he regales us with lively tales of alehouses and cider bars, long-lost inns and much-loved locals. Discover the stories behind the names and signs, the characters who filled the taprooms, and the changing face of village life through the centuries.

Whether you’re passionate about local history, intrigued by Somerset’s cider traditions, or simply someone who enjoys spending time in one of Wedmore’s pubs today, this promises to be an afternoon of warmth, wit, and fascinating insight.

We will have a selection of local beers and cider on sale, so come raise a glass to Wedmore’s past — and present!
