A Song for Weardale
THE SCHOOL ROOMS @ Weardale Methodist Church, Stanhope, DL13 2UP
Saturday 15th August 2026
Come and join us and Sam Slatcher, community songwriter extraordinaire, to develop a Song for Weardale!
The song originated at our Community Gathering back in April, where Sam used the words and thoughts from people in the room to begin writing the (as yet untitled!) song about what makes Weardale the special place it is.
In this workshop, Sam will be guiding us through the development of the song, practicing it together and then we'll be recording it for use in a film that Weardale Together is making about our work and our amazing community. We'll workshop the song in the School Rooms and record in the beautiful Methodist Church with its fantastic acoustics!
You don't need to be a great singer to join in, all voices are welcome, and no previous musical experience is required.
Please note that, unfortunately, the venue has a number of steps and is not fully accessible.
