WATCH PARTY EPISODE 1 - debra.in4k

WATCH PARTY is a screening night dedicated to cinema as an event to remember, not just a one-stop shop. EPISODE 1: CINEMA VITALITÉ is the first instalment of a series of talks, screenings, and film-related events hosted by debra.in4k.

CINEMA VITALITE, is a spotlight on the amazing work of Les Blank: the king of backwoods Americana, celebrations of music, food, cultures on the periphery, Les Blank’s down-to-earth, cat-on-the-shoulder style films are like little trinkets in an eclectic collection of American paraphernalia from Creole cooking, to Blues Music, to a one-hour special on Garlic, and those who love it. We’ll be showing two of my favourite documentary shorts in his career, ‘Werner Herzog Eats His Shoe’ (1980) and ‘Gap Toothed Women’ (1987). We will be following the screenings with 3 short talks from wonderful guest lecturers, and a prize draw to win a Criterion Collection DVD.

The £7 standard ticket includes entry to the screenings and talks, popcorn, and a place in the prize draw to win a Criterion edition DVD. The event runs from 6-9pm on Sunday 8th November.
