Ever wondered what it feels like to row a traditional Cornish Pilot Gig? Join the friendly crew from St Mary's Gig Club for a fun and relaxed introduction to the sport that is at the heart of island life.
Whether you're a complete beginner or simply curious to give it a try, this session offers the chance to get out on the water, learn some basic rowing techniques and experience the thrill of rowing a six-oared pilot gig. All equipment and instruction will be provided by experienced club members.
A fantastic opportunity to discover more about the Isles of Scilly's rich maritime heritage and one of the islands' most popular sports.
Please wear footwear that you don't mind getting wet, as you should expect to get your feet wet when boarding and disembarking the gig.
Suitable for 16 years and above. No previous rowing experience required.
Meet at St Mary's Gig Sheds at Porthmellon Beach, 15 minutes before your time slot.
