From the open landscapes of America to the vivid colours of Spain, this concert celebrates the energy, rhythm and character of dance.
Copland’s Appalachian Spring evokes the spirit of a young American community, combining spacious melodies with vibrant, uplifting rhythms. Arnold’s Scottish Dances follows with a lively and colourful portrait of Scottish musical traditions.
After the interval, the concert bursts into Spanish sunshine with Manuel de Falla’s The Three-Cornered Hat. Full of dazzling rhythms, dramatic flair and richly coloured orchestration, this exuberant ballet score brings the afternoon to a thrilling close.
