Shall Roger Casement Hang? by Peter Arnott
Hill Street Theatre, Edinburgh, EH2 3JP
Monday 15th June 2026 - Friday 19th June 2026
By Peter Arnott
Originally commissioned and presented by Tron Theatre, Glasgow.
Based on real events in the run up to the Easter Rising, 1916, Shall Roger Casement Hang? is a fascinating historical drama that uncovers the enigma of the 1916 Irish republican, former British diplomat, and human rights pioneer who was charged with treason during the First World War.
A confrontation of two men who have served Britain, it asks fundamental questions about history, colonialism, and national identity. The stakes are raised when violent events elsewhere and a revelation of Casement’s identity come to light, ensuring that the Empire they have both served, will never be the same again.
Playwright Peter Arnott will be in attendance for a post-performance Q&A on Monday 15 June. Spaces are limited, so please book ahead to avoid disappointment.
This production is presented by the kind arrangement of the author and Brennan Artists.
