Stream

Stream is an immersive, sound-led new writing performance exploring intimacy through ASMR. It follows a young woman’s secret attachment to an online streamer, Aki. Over ten years, she listens in private, turning to a voice for comfort, routine, and a sense of closeness she struggles to find elsewhere. It explores how sound can becomes a refuge. Listening becomes not only a habit, but a way of surviving, imagining, and connecting, as the voice in her headphones takes on an emotional presence. Alongside this, Aki’s role as a content creator reflects the pressures of maintaining connection and visibility online. Audience members wear headphones throughout, entering an intimate acoustic world shaped by breath, texture, and vibration. The work explores mediated closeness, female desire, and the blurred boundary between comfort, obsession, and care.
