Masks, Mischief and Mayhem!
Studio Theatre - Manchester College entrance, Manchester, M3 1PT
Thursday 10th December 2026 7:00PM
The Manchester College presents Masks, Mischief and Mayhem! Performed by our Year 1 Acting students.
Step into the playful world of Commedia dell’arte, where larger-than-life personalities, outrageous schemes and tangled relationships turn everyday situations into extraordinary comedy.
Rooted in Italian theatre traditions, Commedia brings together instantly recognisable character types: cunning servants, boastful figures, demanding masters, and young lovers whose plans rarely run smoothly. Status, ambition and romance become the ingredients for a world full of mischief, misunderstandings and theatrical surprises.
Our Year 1 Acting students explore this bold performance style through expressive movement, physical characterisation and comic timing. With the body telling as much of the story as the words, every gesture, reaction and encounter offers an opportunity for comedy.
Join us for a lively celebration of ensemble performance and imaginative storytelling, as a new generation of actors discovers the enduring pleasure of making an audience laugh.
