Good Morning, Midnight
Keble O'Reilly Theatre, Oxford, OX1 3PG
Friday 27th November 2026 7:30PM
Today I must be very careful, today I have left my armour at home.
Drifting through the night-time cafés and lamplit streets of 1930s Paris, we meet Sasha, a young woman attempting to learn indifference. Endlessly trying on hats and considering whether to dye her hair, Sasha lives in a constant state of reconstruction. She has everything planned out. Not to flinch. Not to cry. Not to feel. To survive is to have a programme, to leave nothing to chance.
Yet perhaps memory does not abide by human rules.
After an award-winning Edinburgh Fringe run, Tidal Theatre is returning to the Oxford stage with the first ever adaptation of Jean Rhys’ Good Morning, Midnight. This original script by Rowan Brown brings Sasha’s fragmented mind to life through physical theatre, puppetry, soundscapes and cinema. This is a world which, though dangerous, ceaselessly offers the possibility of connection to an individual resigned to isolation.
