Iolanthe is a satirical comic opera by Gilbert and Sullivan that pokes fun at the British government.
It follows Strephon, a half-fairy, half-mortal, who struggles to marry his mortal love, Phyllis, against the wishes of the bumbling, powerful members of the House of Lords.
