Dead of Night

Written by Peter Whalley | Directed by Jim Rowe

He was acquitted. The case is closed. Or is it?

Fresh from his acquittal on a charge of manslaughter, Jack recounts the trial to his girlfriend Maggie and their neighbours with confidence and contempt. According to the evidence presented in court, Philip Mercer broke into Jack's home late at night and, during a struggle, Jack wrestled a gun from him and acted in self-defence.
But as the evening unfolds and questions begin to surface, cracks start to appear in Jack's version of events. Was the shooting really as straightforward as it seemed? And how well can anyone trust the story that secured his freedom?

Packed with tension, suspicion and unexpected twists, Peter Whalley's gripping thriller draws audiences into a web of conflicting accounts and hidden motives, where the truth proves far more elusive than it first appears.
Atmospheric, intelligent and full of intrigue, Dead of Night is a thrilling conclusion to our 90th Anniversary Season.
A compelling mystery where every revelation brings a new question.
