Breath to Soil: Decolonizing Sex Education Is Not a Metaphor

The Sexuality, Liberation & Movement (S.L.A.M.) Conference is a virtual gathering for educators, healthcare professionals, advocates, organizers, students, and community leaders committed to building a more honest, liberatory future.

Created and led by BIPOC sexuality educators and movement builders, S.L.A.M. centers the voices, scholarship, lived experiences, and leadership of Black, Indigenous, and other communities of color while welcoming participants of all backgrounds who are committed to justice and collective liberation.

Together, we explore the ways colonialism, white supremacy, and institutional power continue to shape sexuality education, reproductive health, healthcare systems, mental health, and our understanding of the body itself. At a time when honest education is increasingly under attack, we believe access to truthful, affirming, and historically grounded learning is a human right worth protecting.

This year's theme, Breath to Soil, invites participants to move beyond theory and into practice. Through keynotes, panels, embodied learning, community dialogue, and collective action, we ask not only what must be dismantled, but what must be grown in its place.

What Makes S.L.A.M. Different?
• BIPOC-centered leadership, scholarship, and facilitation
• Anti-colonial and reproductive justice frameworks
• Somatic and embodied learning practices
• Opportunities for community dialogue and integration
• Action-oriented sessions rooted in accountability and liberation
• Virtual attendance from anywhere in the world
