Whisky Tango Foxtrot!
Lantern Theatre, Sheffield, S7 1NF
Friday 19th February 2027 7:30PM
Jack Bryan is a young father, shop steward and steel worker when he experiences the pain of redundancy just before Christmas in the late 1970s, with his second child on the way.
Caught in the decline of British industry, Jack joins the police at a time when that organisation is itself undergoing rapid change.
Over the next 30 years, Jack witnesses first-hand some of the most important events in late 20th-century British social history, including the race riots of the early 1980s, the miners' strike of 1984-85 and the decimation of British industry through globalisation and the Thatcher years.
Alongside these events, Jack finds himself entering a world that very few people get to know, a kind of psychotic Narnia governed by its own rules.
In telling his story, Jack reveals the reality of this parallel world whilst weaving in moments of levity from a perspective that isn't often heard.
Grittily honest, enlightening and hilariously funny, Whisky Tango Foxtrot offers a fascinating insight into a world rarely seen from the outside, whilst raising questions that remain hugely relevant to conversations around policing today.
