The Globe Poetry Slam
The Snug, Grimsby, DN32 0QX
Thursday 11th June 2026
The Globe Poetry Slam at The Snug, Grimsby!
The slam is a light-hearted competition. It's a space to hear new voices, share stories with an audience, and above all: have an ACE time. We're grateful to have grown a kind and supportive community around the event. So whether you're a seasoned performer, or know absolutely nothing about poetry, we'd love to welcome you to the slam.
THE RULES
➤ 2 rounds. 10 poets. 2 poems each.
➤ No singing. No music. No props. Work must be the poets own. We know it's unlikely, but we have to say: Please ensure your poetry does not endorse or promote any form of discrimination / hateful behaviour.
➤ Each Poet is allowed a maximum of 3 minutes in each of the two rounds to perform a poem.
➤ Our ✨lovely judges✨ will score the performer in each rounds between 1-5 points.
➤ For every 5 seconds the performer exceeds the 3 minute time limit, 1 point will be deducted from their score.
➤ The performer with the most points at the end of the night is the winner!
WHERE: The Snug, 2-4 Brighowgate, Grimsby DN32 0QX. There is nearby street parking, and nearby car parks.
WHEN: The Poetry Slam happens on the second Thursday of every month. Doors open at 6:00pm, for a 6:30 start. Food & drink available at the venue! The event has two rounds with a break between, and usually finishes around 9pm.
TICKETS: To be an audience member, please purchase an audience ticket. To perform, please purchase a performer ticket. If you have performed for 2 consecutive months, we ask that you consider purchasing an audience ticket to ensure everyone has a chance to perform. If you are no longer able to attend the event, please cancel your ticket through ticket source, or message ahead of time to ensure we can fill your place. Thanks 💖
P.s - a huge thanks to The Globe, to Matthew, Pam and the team, for being the most wonderful hosts for 5 years. We love you!
