Poetry at The Cut: Naomi Jaffa & Michael Laskey

Two Suffolk-based poets with new books to celebrate.

Michael Laskey, recent recipient of the King's Gold Medal for Poetry, reads from his Collected Poems. His trademark poems – immaculately crafted, warm and eloquent – are at once a contemplation of the past and a love letter to the future.

Michael Laskey's poems are deceptively simple, calm in voice and clear in their observations — yet deeply moving, with last lines that cause an involuntary intake of breath, a wobble of the heart.

Naomi Jaffa launches her first full collection, Flying Change. With candour, courage and vulnerability, her poems explore relationships – with people, with the natural world – and experiences of love, grief and belonging.

Naomi Jaffa’s poems reverberate with magnetic language and clarity. Refreshingly honest, occasionally searing, they are precise, evocative, and intensely lovable.
