The Theatre Of Small Convenience
Nestled in a former Victorian gentlemen’s toilet, The Theatre of Small Convenience re-opened in October 2025 after a careful and loving restoration by a dedicated group of volunteers. This quirky gem, tucked away in the Worcestershire town of Malvern, had been closed since 2017 following the retirement of its founder and puppeteer, Dennis Neale.
Renowned for its charm and eccentricity, the theatre gained worldwide recognition in 2002 when it entered the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s smallest commercial theatre — seating just 12 people, or 16 standing.
Now operating as a Community Interest Company (C.I.C.), this not-for-profit venue continues its legacy by bringing unusual, imaginative, and sometimes provocative performances and artworks to a range of audiences.
