Contemporary Choral Classics - The Orsino Singers
All Saints' Church, Harston, Cambridge, CB22 7NP
Saturday 21st November 2026
A short concert of works which, though written by contemporary composers, have already firmly established their place as choral classics.
The first half sees the Orsino Singers performing several movements from Karl Jenkins' work "The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace", including the Sanctus and the Benedictus.
There's more music by Karl Jenkins after the interval when the choir sings "And The Mother Did Weep", a movement from Jenkins' Stabat Mater. The second half also includes works by John Rutter, including the anthems "God Be In My Head", and "The Lord Bless You And Keep You", along with his recent Christmas carol, "I Too Shall Walk to Bethlehem". We will also be performing the "Irish Blessing" by composer and former King's Singer Bob Chilcott, as well as one of Will Todd's best-loved carols, "My Lord has Come".
Refreshments will be on sale before the concert (from 5:30 pm) and afterwards.
Music director: James Dougal
Organist: Paul Herring
