When Love Hits

The Mission Theatre, 32 Corn Street, Bath, BA1 1UF, Bath, BA1 1UF

Sometimes the people you love the most are the ones who hurt you the most.

When Leo’s long-term relationship ends, he unexpectedly finds love again. It feels like hope. A fresh start. The beginning of something good.
But slowly, almost imperceptibly, love begins to look more like control.

Based on Leo Shepherd’s own lived experience, When Love Hits is a powerful and thought-provoking one-man drama exploring domestic abuse, coercive control, silence and the complex realities of unhealthy relationships — from a perspective audiences may not expect.

The victim is a man.

Intimate, honest and ultimately hopeful, this 60-minute true story challenges assumptions about who can experience abuse and explores what happens when love causes you to lose sight of who you are.

This isn’t a love story. It’s a story of survival, resilience and rediscovering yourself.

★★★★★ “This reviewer has no hesitation in offering the production 5 stars.” — Your Harlow
