A visit by coach to the Hindu Temple in Neasden, North London, the first of its kind to be built outside India (www.neasdentemple.org). It is a masterpiece of traditional Hindu design and exquisite workmanship, constructed from 5,000 tonnes of marble and limestone hand carved in India before assembly in the UK.
The coach will pick up from 3 stops in Oxford, beginning at 08.45, arriving back in Oxford from 16.55 depending on traffic conditions.
In the morning, we will have a guided visit of the Temple, including an introduction to its art and architecture, and be present at the arti ceremony, a daily form of prayer and celebration often called the ‘ceremony of light’.
Following the visit, we will move to the onsite restaurant for a Hindu buffet meal, at a cost of £15.99 excluding drinks. We recommend that you do take part in the buffet as no food and drink is allowed in the temple complex.
In the afternoon, there will be some free time to enjoy the temple further, before the coach departs at 3.30.
