Reverence as a Response to Grief

After his awakening, the Buddha spent seven days gazing with gratitude at the Bodhi tree that had sheltered him – a simple act of reverence that offers us another way of meeting loss. Drawing on Buddhist practice and Francis Weller’s The Wild Edge of Sorrow, this grief-tending workshop explores how reverence might offer another way of being with sorrow, naming the different gateways of grief through guided meditation, and concluding with a simple ritual to honour what we have lost.
