Scottish Artists: Free Art Talk by Julia Marwood

Stockport War Memorial Art Gallery, Greater Manchester, SK3 8AB
Sunday 15th November 2026 1:00PM
Tiny Scotland has punched above its weight for centuries, in fields such as economics, engineering and philosophy, with Scottish explorers and expatriates mapping the globe, developing telecommunications, and building administrative systems across the British Empire and beyond. But it wasn’t always famous for its fine art, in spite of producing some excellent artists through the years.
By the beginning of the twentieth century this had begun to change, and this talk will examine some of the most important Scottish artists and their important contributions to art history from 1900s up until the turn of the new millennium.
