What makes a river special is what happens along it, on it and in it.

Gather round Studio MEAD’s extraordinary three metre long textile map for a 55 minute tour of the world famous and much loved River Avon.

From its source in Northamptonshire to its union with the Severn at Tewkesbury, your friendly guide will float you through centuries of history, folklore and wildlife. You will encounter remarkable characters and discover unexpected stories, as well as glimpsing moments of everyday river life.

This beautiful and witty piece of documentary storytelling promises to enrich your appreciation of this fascinating river. Afterwards, we invite you to explore the beautiful map up close.

Stan’s Cafe have spent more than three decades creating playful, inventive performances sharing them with audiences around the world, both live and online.

Supported by the Royal Shakespeare Company and Live & Local, River Tours: The Avon is the seventh river in Stan's Cafe's acclaimed River Tours series.
