Bob Fox & Stu Luckley in concert

St George's Venue, Hartlepool, TS26 9HP
Friday 13th November 2026
Bob Fox and Stu Luckley
Bob Fox and Stu Luckley took the folk world by storm when they began playing together in the late 1970s. The duo's reputation was cemented in 1978 when they released Nowt So Good'll Pass, their debut album which won Melody Maker's
'Folk Album Of The Year' award. The acclaim has stood the test of time: milestone folk albums are few and far between but Nowt So Good'll Pass remains up there with the very best and has proved enduringly popular.
2008 marked the thirtieth anniversary of the release of Nowt So Good'll Pass and to celebrate, Bob and Stu performed together again, touring selected folk venues and arts centres during October of that year finishing triumphantly at The Sage in Gateshead!
Bob and Stu hadn’t performed together since then until they were asked to do a couple of songs at The Davylamp Folk Club 50th Anniversary concert in July 2024 and having enjoyed the re-connection they have decided to get together once again for a short run of concerts in 2026.  St George's Venue in Hartlepool are one of a number of select venues that will be entertained by this popular duo.  Also featured on 13th November will be singer-songwriter Geoff Rodgers.  Originally from Hartlepool, Geoff has moved around the country over the years but has now settled in the coastal town of Amble in Northumberland.
Bob and Stu will play a range of instruments featured in their original live set including guitars, acoustic bass, dulcimer, and bouzouki and the reunion concert will be made up of a selection of songs from Nowt So Good'll Pass and their second album Wish We Never Had Parted!

A MEETING OF TWO MINDS
Great White Hopes of Folk are such a rarity you’ll forgive us for making an excessive fuss when we encounter one, two even. They hail from the North East of England, parading brief moustaches, a demeanour of disgusting joviality, an intriguing array of instruments and music as fresh, alert and imaginative as any you’ve hope of meeting.
Together they have a lithe vigour, an attack that lifts them apart from the ruck.
They deliver a tender ballad like “Sally Wheatley” with endearing simplicity and turn well-known material like “Reynard The Fox” and “Doodle Let Me Go” upside down with extraordinary inventiveness.
It’s this innate character and energy which is there prime attraction, they arrange and play for all the world as if they are electric musicians in a rock band, and though it’s all dulcimers, citterns, acoustic guitars and acoustic bass guitar, it’s not as foolish an approach as you might imagine and comes out startlingly effective and original.
Their debut Album “Nowt So Good’ll Pass” has rightly been acclaimed as highly innovative and voted Folk Album Of The Year.
