Mendelssohn's ELIJAH

Join us for a powerful performance of Elijah, the dramatic oratorio by Felix Mendelssohn. First performed in Birmingham in 1846, this monumental work tells the story of the biblical prophet Elijah through stirring choruses, lyrical arias, and vivid orchestral writing. From the haunting pleas of a drought-stricken people to the thrilling moments of prophecy, fire, and the prophet’s ascent to heaven, Mendelssohn’s music brings the narrative to life with remarkable intensity. Featuring unforgettable choruses such as “He Watching Over Israel” and the radiant trio “Lift Thine Eyes,” Elijah remains one of the great masterpieces of the choral repertoire.
