Life on the Edge Walks Series (22) – Start Point & Lannacombe (farming for invertebrates)
Start Point NT Carpark, Stokenham, TQ7 2ET
Tuesday 23rd February 2027
Join us for the latest in our series of guided walks that celebrate the beauty of South Devon's coastal landscape.
Come and join us on this 3.62 mile walk around Start Point and down to Lannacombe Beach. Learn about the way that local farmers manage these steep and dangerous coastal landscapes for the benefit of local plant and invertebrate biodiversity. There is a gentle decline from Start Point Carpark around the headland and down to Mattiscombe Sands, then a nice level walk along the coastal pastures to Lannacombe. We will then return to Start Point Car Park via Mattiscombe with a fairly steep climb from Mattiscombe Sands up to the Car Park. There are no toilets or cafes in this area. Sam, our Conservation Officer, will be leading this beautiful walk.
Please bring a bottle of water, good footwear and weather-appropriate clothing. Well-behaved dogs on short leads are welcome.
Meet at Start Point Carpark, TQ7 2ET, or we are providing minibus pick-ups for people who don’t have their own transport. Pick-up at Follaton Arboretum, Totnes (by wooden sign) is at 09:20, or pick-up at Quay carpark, Kingsbridge (Information Centre end) is at 09:55. Booking essential.
