Sound of Solstice is a candlelit, musical soundscape honoring the depths of Winter Solstice. During this longest night of the year, we create a nest from which to journey into a waking reverie with the accompaniment of multi-instrumentalist composers, James Hoskins (cello, gadulka, percussion) and Jesse Manno (oud, drums, flute, singing bowls, vocals, digital soundscape)

After settling in, we are guided to soften inward and expand into the starry night sky by somatic guide Lulu Delphine, of BodyBloom Wellness.

Then, we receive a soundscape of strings, wind, drums, and more to honor the rhythm of the longest night of the year and the returning light. This soundscape is improvised in the moment according to the unique energies and souls that are present.

From deep receptivity to the healing power of music, we emerge rested, with clarity for what will be planted as the days grow longer.

Jesse Manno and James Hoskins have been collaborating and performing together for over 30 years. They are fixtures in the Boulder dance, improvisation, and performance community, as well as internationally celebrated musicians and composers. Their improvisational alchemy, and ability to tune into a group to provide a deeply supportive sonic envelope, is the gift of Sound of Solstice.

You may take the SOS journey reclining, seating or moving, or a combination of the three. Bring your own pillows, blankets or cushions if you wish to recline. Chairs will be provided. Moving bodies are welcome in the back of the room.

Please arrive at 6:40 to get settled. Once the journey begins, the doors will close so as to protect the integrity of the container; there will be no late entries. Capacity is limited. We strongly suggest to purchase tickets ahead. Questions? [email protected]
