Christmas with Sonority
St Mark's Church Broomhill, Sheffield, S10 2SE
Saturday 5th December 2026
Join Sonority this December for a magical evening of breath-taking choral music and festive celebration at the beautiful St Mark's Church, Broomhill.
Presented in Sonority's signature style, this atmospheric concert will surround you with rich harmonies, soaring descants and the timeless sound of voices and harp, leaving you with a true festive glow.
At the heart of this year's programme are two sparkling works: Benjamin Britten's much-loved A Ceremony of Carols and Kristina Arakelyan's A Christmas Offering, a contemporary companion piece inspired by Britten's masterpiece. Together, these enchanting works weave medieval texts, radiant harmonies and the distinctive sound-world of the harp into a joyful celebration of the Christmas story.
We are delighted to be joined by acclaimed harpist Alley Bridge-York, whose artistry will add an extra touch of Christmas sparkle to the evening. Alongside these major works, the programme features a selection of festive favourites, both old and new, creating a concert filled with warmth, beauty and seasonal joy.
Set in the stunning surroundings of St Mark's Church, this is the perfect way to begin your Christmas celebrations. Arrive early to enjoy festive refreshments from 6.30pm before settling in for an uplifting evening of music.
Founded in 2019, Sonority brings together some of Sheffield's finest upper voices. Dedicated to championing music written for women's and upper-voice choirs, the ensemble performs repertoire spanning nine centuries, creating imaginative programmes that celebrate female composers and showcase the extraordinary richness of upper-voice music.

“I had never been before but now I would love to attend all the concerts Sonority perform at.”
“The concert left me feeling extremely moved and delighted at the same time.”
“No words. Just amazing.”
“ I am really grateful that music groups like this exist.”
“Very pleased to have had the opportunity to hear such beautiful songs so expressly executed.”
"The performance by Sonority was beyond my expectations. They were stunning. They performed a wide-ranging programme of challenging, mostly a cappella vocal music surrounding their audience with sound. Absolutely remarkable. Caroline Hallam deserves a medal for establishing this choir and pulling together this group of talented singers. A must go see for anyone with an ear for extraordinary vocal harmonies."
