Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra
Slaithwaite is an industrial village in the beautiful Colne Valley near Huddersfield in the West Riding of Yorkshire. It was in this idyllic location, back in 1891, that a group of amateur musicians met and founded the 'Philharmonic Band', now known as: Slaithwaite Philharmonic Orchestra.
Each season the 80-strong-orchestra, led by the passionate, and highly skilled, Benjamin Ellin, gives four concerts in the Huddersfield Town Hall, three at its 'home' venue, Slaithwaite Civic Hall, as well as additional, exciting projects, such as touring China and accompanying Barclay James Harvest.
