Christmas sketching Flora & Fauna
Coffee & Crumbs Cafe, Keighley, BD20 9BA
Thursday 10th December 2026
The theme for this session is sketching Christmas Flora and Fauna using watercolour pencils. I will be sharing and demonstrating lots of handy tips and techniques with watercolour pencils.
Open to beginners and those with some experience. There will be a group demonstration as well as 1:1 tuition. We will be based in the popular and friendly café Coffee and Crumbs. The event is organised and booked with local Artist Amanda Beck please don't contact the café for bookings.
This is a sketching workshop and if the weather is good, we will be sketching together by the canal. Alternative plans have been made in case of bad weather in the room above the café. During the winter months we may only sketch briefly but we can also gather things to draw nearby.
The workshop starts at 9.30am with a hot drink (included in the price) and an introduction in the room above the café. I will share lots of handy tips and techniques to use with different sketching materials. Every workshop will highlight a different sketching tool as well as a different subject matter. I will also remain flexible to different abilities and interests as well as being inspired on the day. Occasionally I will bring things for you to try and you’re welcome to purchase them at the workshop.
We will then sketch nearby (or enjoy an indoor sketching activity) returning for a delicious lunch. In the afternoon we will continue sketching after a short demonstration. I will work with everyone individually and we can come together at 3pm above the café to enjoy sharing our sketches and feedback from myself.
What inspired me to start these workshops?
I have designed these workshops for people to enjoy the beautiful surroundings in Kildwick and to share my passion and enthusiasm for sketching. Activities are planned for both indoors and outdoors. As an experienced tutor I hope to inspire others to take up the sketching habit and enjoy it as much as I do. Sketching focuses the mind and helps us be present in the moment. It is wonderful to observe nature and to become part of the surroundings. Sketching isn't about perfection so come along and just enjoy exploring your creativity! you never know where it may lead to.
