Creative Coppersmithing
Eden Pottery, Newtownards, BT22 2DH
Sunday 21st March 2027 10:00AM
Spend a full day immersed in the art of copperworking, discovering new techniques, developing your skills and bringing your own creative ideas to life.
We'll begin by exploring the art of foldforming, a technique that transforms flat copper into interesting shapes and three-dimensional forms. As you work through your first piece, you'll learn the fundamentals of heating, piercing, filing and texturing, with demonstrations and guidance from Matthew and Caron along the way. Once you've mastered the basics, the day is yours to explore! With access to our range of tools, materials and techniques, you'll have the freedom to experiment, develop your own designs and create pieces that reflect your individual style. Whether you fancy making jewellery, decorative objects or something a little more unusual, we'll be on hand to help bring your ideas to life. With a full six hours to learn, experiment and create, you'll have the opportunity to make several unique pieces, taking home at least three handmade copper creations to treasure or share with family and friends.
A little creativity, with some lovely treats along the way!
We'll welcome you with complimentary tea or coffee and a slice of homemade cake or traybake to get your day started. At lunchtime, we'll take a break and provide a delicious panini from Eden Cafe, giving you time to relax, recharge and enjoy a chat.
Who knows where a new skill might take you?
Copper is a wonderful place to begin your metalworking journey. The techniques you'll discover and practise during the day provide a foundation for exploring more precious metals, such as silver and gold.
For some, this workshop is simply a chance to enjoy a creative day and make something special. For others, it can be the beginning of a new hobby, a passion or a whole new creative adventure. Either way, you'll leave with new skills, fresh inspiration and a collection of pieces made entirely by you!
