Reading Walks Festival: 9 - 17 May 2026
Welcome to the Reading Walks Festival. The 2026 Festival takes place between 9-17 May and this year the programme encompasses 43 walks. Our theme for this year is Reading's waterways so you will find lots of walks following the course of the Thames, the River Kennet, the Kennet & Avon Canal and the Holybrook.
The Reading Walks Festival is designed to share the stories of Reading as we walk. In that regard, we are more of a walks festival than a walking festival as all our walks are guided by enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides. Our walks start at train stations and bus stops to make the festival as sustainable as possible. You can search the programme by dates below (NB - there are no walks on Mon 11 and Tues 12 May). The description of each walk will include information on the length of the walk (in km/miles/hours), walk difficulty (easy/medium/hard), the type of walk (guided tour/healthy walk/sociable walk), price (most are £3), if walks are wheelchair accessible or family friendly and how to join the walk using public transport. Dogs are not permitted on any of the festival walks.
You can book all the walks in the Festival using the listings below - just select a date to reveal all the walks available. Click on the walk title for more information about each walk or just click the Book Now button if you already know you want to book.
If you would like to browse the digital programme to get an overview of the Festival, you can do that from here. Just remember to come back to this site to book your tickets. We hope you enjoy exploring Reading and all that it has to offer and we look forward to walking with you. If you want more information on the festival, please visit our FAQs, About Us, Getting There, Accessible Walks pages.
The Festival is organised by REDA, the not-for-profit destination marketing company for Reading in Berkshire. You can contact us at [email protected]
