Chrissie Walsh & Rosemary Jenkinson - Advice & Guidance on your Writing Journey

Drumballyroney Church, Banbridge, BT32 5EW
Saturday 6th June 2026
The event will open with local author Chrissie Walsh, who will share her experiences as a start-up author and the challenges of breaking into the literary world.
This will be followed by a musical interlude from Blended Whiskey, a local folk group bringing a relaxed and engaging atmosphere.
After the music, Rosemary Jenkinson, an established and highly regarded author, will speak about her journey through the literary landscape and her experiences as a writer.

Chrissie Walsh is the bestselling saga fiction author of novels set in and around WW1 and 2. She has published 13 novels all of which received 5* ratings from reviewers. She was born in a West Yorkshire mill town, and this inspired her debut novel ‘The Girl from the Mill’ and the recent trilogy ‘A New Dawn for the Mill girls’. She is the author of ‘The Weaver Street’ series and several stand-alone novels.
She writes about ordinary people living in extraordinary times. Her carefully researched novels weave historical facts with heartwarming and heartbreaking events that her lively characters deliver with tenacity, pathos and humour.
After a career in teaching, she finally found the time and motivation to begin writing and secured an agent and a publisher at her first attempt – something that still amazes her to this day. When she’s not writing, she reads, and spends time with her family.
She believes that everybody has a story to tell and encourages people to share their own stories.

Rosemary Jenkinson is a short story writer, playwright, novelist and poet from Belfast. She’s had over twenty plays produced in Belfast, Dublin, Edinburgh, Brussels, Melbourne, New York and Washington DC. Her latest Arlen House books are Laganside Lights, The Memorisers, Sandy Row Riots and Manichea: A Play on Cancellation. She is an Arts Council NI Major Artist, Royal Literary Fund Fellow at Queen's University and Edge Hill Prize short listee.
Her books are available throughout the UK and Europe, Canada, Australia and USA. They are also on line, and in large print and audio versions.
