Gwyl Calan Gaeaf - Hallowe'en Festival

Join us at Down to Zero in Pontyclun for spooky season!

We're teaming up with Think Creatively and the Down to Zero team and volunteers to bring you a Hallowe'en day out with a twist. 

Come and discover our FREE Signs of Winter Scavenger Hunt and claim your prize if you find them all! (no booking needed), we also have FREE pumpkin carving on Friday and Saturday 10am-12pm (no booking needed - just turn up).

Take part in our activities with a blend of traditional and historic Hallowe'en rituals. 

Hot drinks, homemade snacks and soup will be available from our on-site cafe, using as much homegrown produce as possible, feel free to take a wander and see where all the fruit and veg is grown on site.

All activities below are suitable for all ages, but require parent/carer supervision at all times, and tickets are required per person (including adults, but excluding babes-in-arms) all paid activities (morning and afternoon) include homemade soup & drinks for lunch. 

Please make a note of the DAY and TIME of the activity you wish to book on for and book accordingly - unfortunately the booking system won't allow us to list the specific activity on the booking form (very frustrating, and we're annoyed too!).

Thursday 29th October

• 10am - 11am: Growing with the land, Earth & Imprint.  Join the team from Think Creatively to craft and create your very own Nature Inspired Clay Coil Pot, £2 per person

• 12-1:30pm: Homemade soup lunch - included with any paid activity (AM or PM)
• 1.30pm - 2.30pm: Join The Good Stuff team in the Wellbeing shed to create your own pumpkin, in one of three different ways! £2 per person
• 2:30pm - 3.30pm: Join The Good Stuff team in the Wellbeing shed to create your own pumpkin, in one of three different ways! £2 per person

Friday 30th October

• 10am - 12pm: Growing with the land, join the team from Think Creatively to create a signature Calan Gaeaf Mandala £2 per person
• 10am - 12pm: Do the messy stuff here and join us for pumpkin carving! FREE
• 12-1:30pm: Homemade soup lunch - included with any paid activity (AM or PM)
• 1.30pm - 3.30pm: Join the Down to Zero team to make your very own bat box! All materials supplied. £5 per bat box

Saturday 31st October

• 10am - 11am: Join The Good Stuff team in the Wellbeing shed to create your own pumpkin, in one of three different ways! £2 per person

• 1.30pm - 2.30pm: Whispers from the Shadows: An afternoon of Welsh Ghost Folklore and songs with the team from Think Creatively.   Sitting around the campfire to hear tales of old embracing folklore and song, as we write down our intentions for wintering £2 per person
• 2.30pm - 3.30pm: Whispers from the Shadows: An afternoon of Welsh Ghost Folklore and songs with the team from Think Creatively.   Sitting around the campfire to hear tales of old embracing folklore and song, as we write down our intentions for wintering £2 per person
• 5pm - 8pm: The Samhain Coven - an adults Hallowe'en activity to embrace your inner witch! Ticketed separately, £25 pp

Please note - The Down to Zero, Mwyndy Cross site, does not have a postal address. Please do not follow the address on Google Maps! We recommend using the what3words location ///leave.oasis.stance. From there, you'll be able to navigate using popular map services, such as Google Maps, Waze, Citymapper and Bing Maps.

For those of you who like directions: Down to Zero is located through the Mwyndy Industrial Estate, located just off the A4119 between the Matalan and M4 roundabouts. Go through the industrial estate and you will see a yellow barrier (which will be open!) follow that road, you will then reach a grey metal fence either side of the road, continue and then take the next right, and you will have reached us!
