The speaker:
From Suzie - I am a disabled dancer and creative access consultant, dedicated to creating environments where people of all abilities can thrive. My work, including co-directing Dance Unstuck with Jürg Koch, explores Universal Design in dance, reimagining ballet for diverse bodies and minds. I currently co-chair Stopgap Dance Company and support artists and organisations to embed inclusive practice.
The event:
Suzie will explore inclusive practice through the framework of the Universal Design for Dance approach. Beginning by unpacking the background and key principles of Universal Design, before moving into the practical “how”, looking closely at ballet as a highly codified technique. Together, Suzie will work with you to consider how to decode and reimagine this tradition to create meaningful entry points for diverse bodies and minds, fostering access, agency, and artistry for all dancers.
An additional one to one mentoring session is available with Suzie for Free after the network (5-6pm). If you are interested in taking up this opportunity please indicate in the comments when you book.
