Tim Whitehead Quartet - fundraiser for Save Our Green Belt
Bushey and Oxhey Methodist Church, Oxhey, WD19 4DA
Monday 31st August 2026
Legendary saxophonist brings his outstanding quartet to Oxhey Sounds for a Bank Holiday fundraiser special. Proceeds will go to help the Save Our Green Belt campaign, dedicated to fighting the 256-home proposal on Oxhey Lane - more information here. More than £30,000 is still required and Oxhey Sounds wants to do its bit to help. Therefore ticket prices are a little higher than usual and we're giving the option of adding a donation when you buy your ticket.
Tim Whitehead is a jewel in the crown of British jazz, familiar to audiences as a member of Loose Tubes, Ian Carr's Nucleus and a succession of outstanding quartet formations. He was the first ever musician to be artist in residence at Tate Britain, producing iconic projects around the paintings of JMW Turner, has also worked in theatre and founded various projects for musicians including the West London collective Way Out West.
The present quartet features the awesome team of David Gordon (piano), Dave Whitford (double bass) and Oxhey Sounds favourite Tom Hooper (drums). Together they consistently produce music of the highest quality - danceable, melodic, committed and beautifully interactive. It will be a party!
The performance will feature a short support set by local superstars and musician champions, the singer/songwriter duo, Archer Levy and Georgia Lowe, aka Sundown - who have already played a memorable concert for Oxhey Sounds at Oxhey Chapel last year.
We look forward to welcoming you for this wonderful concert..
