NYSA Industry Updates - Moisture Management & Risk Assessment in Traditional Building Retrofit

The West Park Hotel, Harrogate, HG1 1BJ
Tuesday 12th May 2026
RIBA CPD Topic - Building Conservation and Heritage

Session Overview
This session covers how to assess and manage moisture risks when retrofitting traditional and historic buildings. It explains different assessment methods, with a focus on WUFI, a leading hygrothermal simulation tool increasingly recommended in national standards. The talk highlights WUFI’s strengths, limitations and real‑world application through case studies from Yorkshire and elsewhere. The session emphasises why understanding moisture behaviour is essential for upgrading older buildings effectively and safely.
