Candlelit Tour of Arbeia
Arbeia South Shields Roman Fort, South Shields, NE33 2BB
Saturday 12th December 2026 6:00PM
As dusk settles and darkness falls, hear how the Romans lit up their homes at Arbeia, South Shields' Roman Fort.
These twilight candlelit tours are the perfect way to step back, enjoy and reflect at this special time of year.
The tours are led by our expert guide Sue Balmer and include time to explore the reconstructed Commanding Officer's House. At the end of the tour, you can ask Sue all those burning questions over light refreshments, including hot drinks and mince pies.
Not suitable for under 12s.
We recommend dressing warmly and for all weathers, and sensible shoes are a must.
Places are limited, so be sure to book your place early to avoid disappointment.
