The Night of the Hunter (Tarland)

A sinister preacher, Harry Powell, marries a naive widow during the Great Depression, determined to uncover $10,000 hidden by her executed husband. When her children, John and Pearl, refuse to reveal the secret, Powell’s charm gives way to menace, forcing them to flee downriver as he hunts them relentlessly. Blending fairy‑tale imagery with stark suspense, The Night of the Hunter remains a haunting classic of good versus evil, anchored by Robert Mitchum’s chilling performance.
