Weekend with Wajda: Powidoki (Afterimage) – 2016

In post-war communist Poland, the avant-garde painter Władysław Strzemiński refuses to accept Socialist Realism. He is fired from his teaching post, banned from working as an artist, and stripped of basic rights. Despite poverty, illness, and isolation, he continues to teach and create in private until the regime completely destroys him.
