Weekend with Wajda: Katyn (Katyń) – 2007

In September 1939, Polish officers, including Captain Andrzej, are captured by the Soviets. Their wives and families wait in vain for their return. In spring 1940 the officers are secretly executed by the NKVD in the Katyń Forest. After the war the Soviet authorities force a lie blaming the Germans. The film shows the massacre and the long suffering of the families who refuse to accept the official falsehood.
