Stories from Stones

Mount Zion Heritage Chapel, Per Lane, HX2 8XG
Saturday 9th May 2026
A Celebration of the spoken word.
Poet Mary Thomson will share poems and prose which relate closely to her experience of Mount Zion and its locality; formerly an art critic for the Yorkshire Post, Mary has published several poetry collections, including ‘Still Dancing’. Her actress daughter, Cathy Sara (Downton Abbey, the Woman in Black, Emmerdale and the West End productions), will co-present. They will bring to life stories told by the stones of Mount Zion, the artist Peter Brook and remember Isaac Button and the local Soil Hill potteries. They will draw on the poetry and prose of, the Brontës, Ted Hughes and JB Priestley.  Don’t miss out on the chance to see Mary and Cathy in action!

Refreshments will be available in the cottage after the event.
